DEFERRED PAYMENT AGREEMENTS:
A BEST PRACTICE SEMINAR FOR WELSH LOCAL AUTHORITIES

Llandrindod Wells

Deferred Payment Agreements (DPA):

A Best Practice Seminar for Welsh Local Authorities

The challenge:

There is no doubt that deferred payment agreements are a valuable public service. They can prevent residents from being forced to sell their home to meet their cost of care, as well as providing the council with a secure lending option. However, there are huge variations in DPA sign ups across the country, as well as a general lack of awareness among residents, and inconsistencies in the level of admin fees between local authorities.

DPA Workshops:

In our one-day Deferred Payment Agreement seminar, we’ll look at some of the key issues in more detail and be discussing and sharing best practice, as well as reviewing the latest Ombudsman decisions.

The Agenda:

  • 9:30am Arrival, Registration and Coffee
  • 10am to 12 pm: Morning Session
  • DPAs - Mandatory vs Discretionary
  • Obtaining security for a DPA
  • Breakout sessions and Feedback
  • 12pm to 1pm Lunch
  • 1pm to 3pm Afternoon Session
  • Affordability - Ensuring your scheme is cost neutral
  • Latest Ombudsman decisions
  • Breakout sessions and Feedback
