Want to know what makes the escalla apprenticeships team tick? Find out more about who we are, our skills and experience, and what we get up to on a Friday night!

Claire McLellan

Claire is our Apprenticeships director. She’s been involved in vocational training for 21 years, and has become known for her excellent client management skills, and a strong reputation for delivering.

Before joining escalla, Claire worked for some large work-based learning providers, as well as successfully running her own apprenticeship programme. She has a very strong focus on quality and ensuring our apprentices’ learning experience is always of an exceptional standard.

When Claire isn’t running our team, she enjoys cooking and going on long walks with her dog.

Joe McLellan

Business Manager

Joe is escalla’s business manager, and is dedicated to creating opportunities for young people. He works closely with businesses to discover their recruitment needs, and then supports them through the process of recruiting an apprentice. Joe has over 30 years of experience in customer service and sales, and has been with escalla since 2012.

Joe’s also kept busy by his passion for golf and cars. He even treats his car to a set of special polishes and waxes – as well as daily dust inspections – to keep it pristine.

Helen Oakes

Placement Officer

Helen is our placement officer and has been working with young people and organising apprenticeships, work experience and employability events for nearly 20 years. Before escalla, she worked with local and national training providers, schools and colleges, as well as working closely with school careers advisors.

Helen is passionate about apprenticeships and dedicated to delivering a high quality experience for young people and employers.

‘My family is the centre of my life, and I enjoy spending time with my sons and my young daughter. I’m also a qualified reflexologist, so my friends and family enjoy the occasional treatment. I also enjoy reading when I have the time – mostly biographies and crime novels.’

Emma Serventi

Academy Coordinator

Emma is our academy coordinator and has over 17 years of experience in education: teaching IT, art, technology and work-related learning in the primary, secondary and post-16 sectors. She joined escalla 18 months ago after looking for a new and exciting challenge, and becoming a mother to a young family.

Emma has bought with her a wide range of transferable knowledge and skills; and she’s currently in charge of training our digital marketing apprentices, and coordinating all training and assessment in our academy.

She is creative and organised, and determined to ensure that all of our apprentices enjoy their journey and achieve fantastic things! In her spare time, Emma enjoys all aspects of social media and making special memories with her family.

Matt Shannon

Matt is our Marketing Assistant and loves all things creative. In his free time, Matt enjoys socialising and looking after his Airedale Terrier.

Maureen is our special projects manager and has worked within the educational training sector for 25 years. Maureen is responsible for analysing various projects linked to the continuous improvement of our training delivery.
