Digital Safety: Apprentices Deliver Innovative Citizenship Project at Local School!

In an effort to contribute to the community, the L3 ICT/Digital Support Technician group recently concluded their Citizenship project. Their chosen initiative involved delivering lessons on Cyber Security/Online Safety to a local high school.

Their main objective was to provide relevant advice on current trends and apps, recognising that this aspect was often overlooked.

Remarkably, they successfully conducted these sessions for the entire Year 7 cohort of the school, spanning over two days. The results were outstanding.

Feedback received from both staff and students confirmed that their dedicated efforts had paid off. The students demonstrated clear engagement, especially when participating in activities such as creating strong passwords and learning about Snapchat's MyAI!

Witnessing the growth in their organisational and presentation skills throughout the project was truly inspiring.

Collectively, we should take immense pride in their accomplishments!

Find out more about the Digital Support Technician Apprenticeship.

Federico, Ella, Curtis, Jacob, and Dan, our IT and Digital Support apprentices, spent time getting ready for their upcoming presentation. They wanted to talk about why Online Safety is important in today's digital age. With practice, they fine-tuned their presentation, aiming to connect with the high school children.

We're improving the way we support Employers and Apprentices!

We've taken a closer look at our induction process to better support both our apprentices and employers. We want to ensure that everyone involved has the right information, advice and guidance they need, to make every apprenticeship a success.

We'll be introducing the new improvements below to help support you and ensure that the role and the company are the right fit.

Work Trial

Following the interview stage, apprentices will participate in a work trial to gain a firsthand understanding of their day-to-day responsibilities. This helps prevent early departures due to mismatched expectations

Probation Meeting

At Week 4, separate meetings will be held with the employer and the apprentice. Assessors will assess the suitability of the role and the apprentice's fit. If any party feels it's not a match, escalla will assist in finding a better fit for both apprentice and employer.

Employer Induction Session

All employers are invited to an informative session at the academy, where they can meet the escalla team, learn about the role of an Employer Mentor, ask questions, gather tips, and network with other mentors.

Midpoint Review

At Week 35, a comprehensive review involving all parties will take place. This review identifies successes, areas for improvement, and explores future growth and development opportunities for the apprentice.

Ongoing Review

Regular review meetings, including Formal Progress Review meetings every 10 weeks, will continue. Catch up calls with assessors and apprentices will be scheduled between these meetings.

Dedicated Support

Once enrolled, each apprentice will be assigned an escalla Trainer and Mentor. In Week 3, the escalla Mentor will check in with the apprentice, discussing progress, concerns, and any required support. An action plan will be implemented if necessary. Regular support from the mentor will continue throughout the whole apprenticeship.
