Pastoral Achievements and Successful Citizenship Projects
Our pastoral support programme goes beyond technical skills, providing apprentices with essential life skills. This year we refreshed our pastoral content and apprentices learnt more about mental health awareness, money management, cyber security, driving safety and more. Thanks to our Apprenticeship Delivery Manager and part-time Lifesaving superstar Em, every apprentice has also gained an RLSS UK Life Support certificate. Our commitment to empowering our apprentices means we encourage them to gain additional certifications including Microsoft Certified Fundamentals and Google Digital Garage qualifications.
Alongside their studies, each of our apprentices completes a citizenship project. The idea is to practise skills like teamwork, communication and problem-solving, whilst developing a project that gives back to the local community. This year, citizenship project highlights include our IT & DST apprentices delivering sessions on staying safe online to pupils at Malbank High School and our Level 4 Marketing Executives at Centrica organising a charity fundraising day. They organised an event that would help boost their department’s volunteering efforts, as well as encouraging colleagues to get together as a team and give back to charity. During the event, they gained a 33.5% increase in colleagues signing up to take part in volunteering days.
