escalla has been a trusted partner to Barts Health NHS Trust for over 15 years, providing essential resources and 24/7 support services to facilitate a wide range of learning and development initiatives. These efforts have supported Barts Health's ongoing digital health journey, helping to ensure the successful deployment of advanced healthcare technologies across the Trust's multiple hospitals. escalla’s collaboration with Barts Health exemplifies the vital role of effective training, user support, and systems implementation in the transformation of healthcare services. This case study delves into some of the key projects that escalla has supported, with a focus on the WeConnect initiative from 2021 to 2024.

Handling Difficult Situations With Compassion

Our award-nominated Handling Difficult Situations with Compassion programme was designed with and commissioned by NHS England to give frontline, patient-facing NHS workers the skills and techniques to handle difficult situations with compassion, including using appropriate communication techniques and active listening skills. Following a successful pilot in 2022, over 9,000 staff attended the training, with 93.6% of participants rating their training experience positively and 91.9% indicating they would recommend the training to their colleagues. New components were also introduced to extend the reach and long-term support of NHS staff, including additional Train-the-Trainer sessions and eLearning modules to enhance accessibility and flexibility.

South West London and St George’s Mental Health – RiO for Students

South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust (SWLSTG) is a leading provider of mental health services in the UK. Recognising the need to modernise its RiO clinical systems training for student nurses and doctors, the Trust collaborated with escalla to develop the "RiO for Students" e-Learning course.

This initiative aimed to address key challenges in training delivery by replacing outdated video-based learning and reducing reliance on instructor-led sessions. The resulting e-Learning programme enhanced engagement, ensured regulatory compliance, and improved the onboarding experience for student healthcare professionals.

Croydon Health Services

Croydon Health Services NHS Trust (CHS) is a key provider of integrated hospital and community healthcare services in South London. CHS partnered with escalla to develop a comprehensive FetaLink e-Learning programme to support the rollout of the FetaLink maternity system. The project aimed to provide high-quality, interactive digital training that would reduce reliance on instructor-led sessions while ensuring that maternity staff were well-prepared for the system's implementation.
