A Year in Review: escalla Apprenticeships

A YEAR IN REVIEW...

As 2023 draws to a close, escalla is taking a moment to look back at the incredible journey we've had this year.

Filled with achievements, new partnerships, and the growth of our team, we're excited to share our highlights and give you a sneak peek into what's on the horizon for 2024...

2023 Highlights and Achievements

Welcoming new businesses and growing cohorts

In 2023, we introduced a wealth of new businesses from a variety of industries to the world of digital apprenticeships. These additions have strengthened our network and provided many exciting opportunities for apprentices. It’s great to have you all on board!

Of course, fostering our existing business partnerships is equally as important as building new ones, and this year we proudly welcomed new cohorts from a few familiar faces.

Celebrating achievements

Our apprentices achieved some fantastic results this year, with an impressive 70% distinction rate for the academic year so far.

Team changes:

In September, we bid a reluctant farewell to Mo after 10 years at escalla and a remarkable 30-year career in supporting young people. On a brighter note, we welcomed new team member Jason, who’s doing an excellent job in supporting Joe with sales and business development.

Engaging with the community

With our training academy based in Crewe, we’re always keen to strengthen ties with our local community. We recently joined the South Cheshire Chamber of Commerce, The Cheshire and Warrington Pledge and the Cheshire and Warrington Local Enterprise Partnership. It’s been great attending local networking events and learning more about fellow members and organisations.

Maintaining quality:

For the 10th year running, escalla successfully maintained the Matrix award for Information, Advice and Guidance (IAG)

Thanks to all of our apprentices/employers/team members who supported our achievement through telephone meetings with our Matrix assessor.

Pastoral Achievements and Successful Citizenship Projects

Our pastoral support programme goes beyond technical skills, providing apprentices with essential life skills. This year we refreshed our pastoral content and apprentices learnt more about mental health awareness, money management, cyber security, driving safety and more. Thanks to our Apprenticeship Delivery Manager and part-time Lifesaving superstar Em, every apprentice has also gained an RLSS UK Life Support certificate. Our commitment to empowering our apprentices means we encourage them to gain additional certifications including Microsoft Certified Fundamentals and Google Digital Garage qualifications.

Alongside their studies, each of our apprentices completes a citizenship project. The idea is to practise skills like teamwork, communication and problem-solving, whilst developing a project that gives back to the local community.  This year, citizenship project highlights include our IT & DST apprentices delivering sessions on staying safe online to pupils at Malbank High School and our Level 4 Marketing Executives at Centrica organising a charity fundraising day. They organised an event that would help boost their department’s volunteering efforts, as well as encouraging colleagues to get together as a team and give back to charity. During the event, they gained a 33.5% increase in colleagues signing up to take part in volunteering days.

Last but not least....Teddy turned 8!

Now, what’s to come in 2024?

Launch of the Multi-Channel Marketer apprenticeship

As of the 11th of December, the brand-new multi-channel marketer apprenticeship standard is now live! Effectively replacing the digital marketer programme, the multi-channel marketer apprenticeship is great for anyone looking to gain exposure to a wide and varied array of marketing techniques and channels. It is fantastic for organisations that are looking to build out their team with multi-faceted marketers as it covers both digital and traditional methods. We are currently building Multi-Channel-Marketer cohorts for the New Year, so if you’d like to find out more please contact Joe at joe.mclellan@escalla.co.uk or visit our blog.

Cyber Security apprenticeships are back!

Due to popular demand, we’re very excited to announce that we have new Cyber Security Technologist cohorts coming in 2024.  Cyber Security Technologists are prevalent across sectors like Digital, Telecoms, Business Services, Finance, Health and more. Their primary role is safeguarding systems, data, and individuals from cyber threats, encompassing attacks and unauthorised access. The role makes a valuable addition to any sized business. If you’d like to find out more about hiring a Cyber Security Technologist, please get in touch with Joe.

More opportunities coming soon

Stay tuned for more details on additional Level 3 qualifications, as we continue to broaden our apprenticeship offering. We’re also looking to enhance our pastoral content even further, with initial ideas including motor vehicle maintenance… any other suggestions are most welcome!
