Working out Universal Credit

Dealing with complex universal credit cases: Workshop

Locations: London | Birmingham | Manchester

Universal Credit

Learning how to deal with complex cases

The challenge:

The slow transition to Universal Credit continues to produce increasingly complex and challenging cases.

The recent mixed-age couple regulations are just one example (for instance, what happens when a partner receives SDP? When does HB end? When do the HB working age / pensioner rules apply?). These complex rules are a real challenge, and if applied incorrectly, could leave a mixed-age couple £140 per week worse off!

Throw into the mix other aspects of UC, such as problems dealing with the severe disability premium and successful legacy benefit appeals, and things become even more problematic.

UC Workshops:

In our one-day Universal Credit complex cases workshop we'll take an in depth look at the issues causing most concern and bring you up to date with all the recent legislation changes.

The Agenda:

  • The complex law surrounding mixed age couple rules.
  • Severe disability premium.
  • Transitional protection for persons already claiming UC.
  • An update on the migration process.
  • Future changes to Universal Credit, and the effect on legacy benefits.
  • Specified accommodation
